Prof. Dr. M. Farid Ahmed

Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh Open University

An eminent research scholar and educationist Professor Dr. M. Farid Ahmed joined the Bangladesh Open University (BOU) on March 16, 2007 as its fifth Vice-Chancellor.

As long as 30-year of his teaching and research career, Professor Ahmed held many important positions at home & abroad. In 1977 Dr. Ahmed joined as a lecturer in the Department of Finance and Banking, University of Dhaka. In 1993, he was appointed as a Professor of the same University. He was also appointed as a Professor of Finance in the Faculty of Economics Nagasaki University, Japan in 1994 and Continued there till October 1999. In September 2004 he was also appointed as Treasurer of Bangladesh Open University and continued there till his joining as Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Ahmed has more then fifty research articles and five research based books published at home and abroad. He has been awarded Deans award as the best researcher from Dhaka University in the year 2000 for his outstanding performance in the field of finance.
